TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

JETSON ELECTRIC BIKE

STARTING THE BIKE

Reason: you are using the wrong key

Solution: identify the proper key for the ignition by consulting the welcome kit, or systematically trying every key on the key ring.

Please also note that the seat lock key and the ignition key are the same.

Reason: the ignition is rusty or corroded

Solution: spray WD-40 into the key hole

Reason:the ignition is faulty, or has been tampered with.

Solution: contact customer service, see ‘Lock’ video

Reason: the battery is not charged

Solution: charge the battery

Reason: the battery is not plugged in to the bike

Solution: place the battery under the seat, and plug the battery in to the bike

Reason: the fuse switch is in the off position

Solution: turn the fuse switch to the ‘on’ position

Reason: the key is not in the ignition/in the ‘on’ position

Solution: insert the key into the ignition, turn to the ‘on’ position

Reason: the controller is burnt out

Solution: replace the controller. See ‘controller’ video.

Reason: the throttle is disconnected

Solution: reconnect throttle to main electrical system. See ‘Throttle’ video.

Reason: the throttle is broken

Solution: replace throttle. See ‘Throttle’ video.

Reason: the brakes are malfunctioning and still engaged

Solution: Make sure brake is disengaged. Tighten or replace the brake cable. See ‘front brake’ and ‘motor’ videos

Reason: the motor is burnt out

Solution: replace the motor. See ‘motor’ video.

Reason: the motor is disconnected

Solution: connect the motor. See ‘motor’ video.

Reason: the controller is burnt out

Solution: replace the controller. See ‘controller’ video.

Reason: Jetson is not turned on

Solution: make sure key is in ignition in the ‘on’ position, see ‘Jetson won’t turn on’

Reason: Battery is not plugged in, or has no power

Solution: plug the battery into the Jetson

Solution: charge the battery

Reason: Fuse is switched ‘off’ (towards back of the Jetson)

Solution: switch fuse ‘on’ (towards front of the Jetson)

Reason: Brakes are engaged

Solution: make sure brake is disengaged. Tighten or replace the brake cable. See ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos.

Reason: Motor is disconnected

Solution: reconnect motor, see ‘Motor’ video

Reason: Motor is burnt out

Solution: replace the motor, see ‘Motor’ video

RIDING

Reason: The rear fork requires lubrication

Solution: Lubricate rear fork using WD-40, see ‘Rear Fork’ video

Reason: Battery power (Voltage) is low

Solution: Charge the battery.

Reason: Battery is disconnected or not connected properly

Solution: Reconnect the battery properly.

Reason: The fuse switch is in the ‘off’ (switch is towards back of the Jetson) position

Solution: Turn fuse switch to ‘on’ (switch is towards front of the Jetson) position

Reason: The motor is burnt out

Solution: Replace the motor, see ‘Motor’ video

Reason: The controller is burnt out

Solution: Replace the controller, see ‘Controller’ video

Reason: The motor and controller are burnt out

Solution: replace motor and controller, see ‘Motor’ and ‘Controller’ videos

Reason: Motor or/and controller overheating causes wires to fuse and burn out

Solution: Inspect wires, to see which ones are burnt out. Replace motor or/and controller accordingly, see ‘Motor’ or/and ‘Controller’ videos

Reason: Motor or/and controller overheating causes wires to fuse and burn out

BRAKING

Reason: There is dirt or rust inside the rear drum brake

Solution: Use brake cleaner fluid inside the drum brake

Reason: The brake cable is loose, causing the brake lever to stay engaged.

Solution: make sure brake is disengaged. Tighten or replace the brake cable. See ‘front brake’ and ‘motor’ videos.

Reason: the brake cables are faulty

Solution: Replace brake cable, see ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos

Reason: Brake cables are too tight

Solution: Loosen brake cables, see ‘Adjusting Brake Cables’

Reason: Brakes are loose

Solution: Tighten brake cables, see ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos

Reason: Brake cable needs tightening

Solution: Tighten brakes, see ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos

Reason: Brake cable needs lubrication

Solution: Lubricate the brake cable, inside the brake cable housing

Reason: The brake cable is disconnected from the brake lever

Solution: Loosen the brake tightening nut at the wheel end of the brake cable, reconnect brake cable to brake lever. See ‘Front Brake’ video

Reason: cables are faulty

Solution: Replace brake cable, see ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos

Reason: My brake lever is broken or disconnected

Solution: Replace or reconnect brake lever, see ‘Front Brake’ and ‘Motor’ videos

Reason: The brakes are malfunctioning and still engaged

ACCELERATING

Reason: The tires are not fully inflated

Solution: inflate tires fully, 40 PSI

Reason: The battery is very low or about to die

Solution: charge the battery fully

Reason: Jetson is carrying more than 500lbs or is climbing a very steep grade

Solution: reduce load on Jetson or attempt a shallower grade

Reason: Tires are not fully inflated

Solution: inflate tires fully, to 40 PSI

Reason: Battery is very low

Reason: The throttle is broken

LOCKING

Reason: The steering column is not turned at a 40 degree angle

Solution: Turn the steering column all the way to the left or right and put the key in the ignition and turn clock wise

Reason: The steering column hook is not locking properly with the frame

Solution: Open the headlight housing, and adjust the steering column hook that locks with the frame.

Reason: Seat lock is not aligned with seat hook

Solution: Use screwdriver and adjust the angle of the seat lock. The seat hook will connect to the seat lock.

Reason: Seat hook is broken

Solution: Replace seat.

Reason: You are using the wrong key

Solution: Use the key that unlocks seat , the seat lock key is the same as the ignition key.

Reason: Seat lock cable not connected to seat lock

Solution: Open seat from the front with screwdriver and manually disengage the seat lock, then reconnect seat lock cable to the seat lock. Fasten with zip tie. See, ‘Seat Lock’ video.

Reason: You are using the wrong key

Solution: Use the key that unlocks the front storage

Reason: The storage lock mechanism is broken or tampered with

Solution: Replace front storage box. See ‘Front Storage Box’ video.

Reason: You are using the wrong key

Solution: Use the key that unlocks the motor.

Reason: The motor lock needs lubrication

Solution: Use WD-40 on motor lock

PARKING (KICKSTAND)

Reason: The kickstand is bent. See ‘Kickstand’ video

Solution: Replace the kickstand. See ‘Kickstand’ video

Reason: The kickstand is severely bent.

Solution: Replace the kickstand. See ‘Kickstand’ video

Reason: The kickstand spring is disengaged

Solution: reinstall kickstand spring, see ‘kickstand’ video

Reason: The kickstand spring is missing

Solution: Replace and install kickstand spring. See ‘kickstand’ video.

PEDALING

Reason: The pedals are loose

Solution: Reinstall and tighten pedals with adjustable wrench. See ‘Pedals’ video.

Reason: The pedal screws and/or crank arm lining are stripped

Solution: Replace pedals and/or crank arm

Reason: The pedal and/or crank arm are bent

Solution: Replace pedals and/or crank arm, See ‘Pedals’ video.

Reason: The middle axel is broken or not attached properly

Solution: Reinstall middle axel base set, see ‘Middle Axel’ and/or ‘Middle Axel Base Set’ video

Reason: The large chain is off

Solution: Loosen the rear wheel, push wheel forward (towards front of Jetson), install large chain onto rear sprocket and the middle axel sprocket. See ‘Motor’ video.

Reason: The small chain is off

Solution: Replace small chain onto middle axel sprocket. See ‘Middle Axel Sprocket Wheel’ video.

Reason: The chain or one of the sprocket wheels is dirty or rusty

Solution: Lubricate or clean chain and sprocket wheels

WHEELS

Reason: puncture in tire and inner tube

Solution: replace inner tube, see ‘Inner Tube’ video.

Reason: air pump not fully inserted into inner tube

Solution: insert air pump fully into inner tube

Reason: air pump is faulty

Solution: find a different air pump

Reason: Your tire needs air

Solution: Inflate your tire to 40 PSI

Reason: puncture in tire and inner tube

Solution: replace inner tube, see ‘Inner Tube’ video

Reason: inner tube valve is unscrewed or tampered with

Solution: replace inner tube, see ‘Inner Tube’ video

Reason: tire is severely damaged

Solution: replace tire and inner tube, see ‘Tire’ video

Reason: The steering column is loose, or is not aligned properly

Solution: Realign steering column and tighten steering column bolt, see ‘Steering Column’ video

Reason: One rear wheel locking nut is more tightly fastened on one side than another

Solution: Loosen both locking nuts, straighten the wheel and re-tighten both locking nuts equally, see ‘Motor’ video

ELECTRONICS

Reason: Jetson is not turned on

Solution: make sure key is in ignition in the ‘on’ position, see ‘Jetson won’t turn on’

Reason: Battery is not plugged in, or has no power

Solution: plug the battery into the Jetson

Solution: charge the battery

Reason: Fuse is switched ‘off’ (towards back of the Jetson)

Solution: switch fuse ‘on’ (towards front of the Jetson)

Reason: The lightbulb is burnt out

Solution: change the Lightbulb, see ‘Headlight’ or ‘Rear Light bulb’ video

Reason: The lights are disconnected from the main wire system

Solution: Reconnect the lights, see ‘Headlight’ or ‘Rear Light’

Reason: The transformer is disconnected

Solution: Reconnect the transformer, see ‘Transformer’ video

Reason:Jetson is not turned on

Reason:The transformer is disconnected

Reason:Blinker cables are connected backwards

Solution: reconnect blinker cables properly, see ‘Blinker’ video

Reason: The meter is disconnected from the controller

Solution: reconnect the meter to the controller, see ‘Controller’ video (connection notes: small blue, bullet pin connector)

Reason: Jetson is not turned on

Solution: make sure key is in ignition in the ‘on’ position, see ‘Jetson won’t turn on’

Reason: Fuse is switched ‘off’ (towards back of the Jetson)

Solution: switch fuse ‘on’ (towards front of the Jetson)

Reason: The meter is disconnected

Solution: reconnect the meter, see the ‘Meter’ video

Reason: The transformer is disconnected; note: in this case none of the lights will work

Solution: Reconnect the transformer, see ‘Transformer’ video

Reason: The horn is disconnected

Solution: reconnect the horn, see ‘Horn’ video

Reason: Twires are not securely fastened to Jetson

Solution: use zip ties to secure wires on to the steering column, see ‘Wire Set’ video

Solution: use zip ties to secure wires on to the frame, see ‘Wire Set’ video

BATTERY

Reason: Charger not plugged in to battery or wall properly

Solution: Make sure charger is plugged securely into wall and battery

Reason: You have a faulty charger

Solution: Replace the charger

Reason: Charger not plugged in to battery or wall properly
